Although I know the US investment banking market better than that in the UK, I can tell you need to quantify your bullet point language if you want to construct a compelling resume. Specifically in this market, it will be tough to get hired in Ibanking with out a top notch application.
thanks for the review Big4, I was just wondering if you could give me some advice on how I could quantify my resume further. I have tried but with my work experience, it has only been a spring week with a bulge bracket where nothing is actually done, its just an insight week. so there are no quantifiable results. It is also hard to use numbers in my other work experience activity.
too American style..probably u've already applied..cuz all the deadlines for London have already passed..anyway...take away that "University of", it's enough Manchester Business School..not a 1st tier-target uni for IBD but defo it's considered by recruiters. "March-April 2008"..well, it's a spring week! and recruiters consider that as a good stuff on ur cv but they r gonna ask themselves "didn't this guy received a fast-track proposal?" (i mean, Goldman's spring week always led to fast-track interviews until 2007...later i dunno...)...try to focus on some good bullet point which can make u stand out of the crowd (i know this sentence is boring and always told to students during campus presentations!)..i mean..the BMW stuff is just a business competition/workshop..normally it takes one line maximum on a candidate resume under the section "additional info and interest"..i'd try to improve and give more importance to the summer job u did and also name some courses u took at the biz-school (courses related to ibk obviously!)..good luck anyway! i spent one wonderful semester at MBS!
Thanks for the review, I was struggling for stuff to put under work experience so had to make the most out of JP etc. I now have an offer for trading at BP for the summer, so next year if needed i can take these points into consideration and my CV should be looking good, thanks again, and MBS is excellent, and Im glad you enjoyed your time in manchester, i think everyone does!
