Social Media Maven

I’ve been in the “social media trenches” professionally for a year now, helping clients create communities surrounding their brands and relevant topics. However, I’ve actually been an enthusiastic user of social media (starting with blogging and myspace) for almost 10 years now! I’m comfortable using and navigating these spaces in a professional environment, because I use them in my free time to connect with people on topics I enjoy. I pride myself in building communities from the ground up, being able to find and join relevant conversations (especially on Twitter), and gaining the attention of influential users. I’ve also become really interested in measuring client success (both quantitatively and qualitatively). I am beginning to understand where value truly lies in social media channels. Further, I am constantly reading and researching better ways to use social media (for business and for fun) which means I’m often an early adapter. I enjoy trying, testing, and learning new ways to reach out and connect with others. Lastly, my experience with and passion for education has been incredibly useful during client trainings. I LOVE to talk about these channels, to show people best practices, and to share my passion for (and understanding of) these channels. http://www.scribd.com/doc/35645430/Social-Media-Resume

I like how your resume does a great job in really telling the reviewer about your qualifications, especially with the testimonials. However, I feel that it's just too long. I feel that you give out a lot of details about your past history. Rather, I feel a resume should build up to tell the reviewer about your background that helps you get the position. For example, I don't think your teaching background is necessarily supportive in helping you get a social media job, so minimizing that job description will help make thing shorter. Also, listing your high school is un necessary. You've got a masters so it's assumed you've complete high school. Also, with work experience already, I don't think mentioning GPA is necessary. It won't hurt your resume, but if interested in making it shorter, it's something you can consider removing. I hope, I don't sound too harsh. My main comment is that it's too long and just threw out considerations which can shorten the resume.

I liked the recommendations on the side - I hadn't seen that before. I'd be concerned that it takes up valuable real estate though so many just highlight a few words rather than their entire quote? Working with a recruiter, I used the format PAR for my resume accomplishments which seems to work. It makes it easy for the reader to imagine that your experience is transferrable into their environment. PAR stands for Problem, Action (taken by you) and Result. The village was burning so I took a fire hose to it and saved all the villagers. :-)
