So you have bought an induction cooktop and now are worried about whether you will need a completely new set of induction cookware. You will be happy to know that it is not necessary anymore with the modern induction cooktops.
To find out which of your existing utensils will work with the induction cooktop, you can do a very easy magnet test. Just hold a strong magnet against the bottom of your utensils. If the magnet sticks firmly then you can use the utensil on induction cooktops.
Since the burner area of inductions cooktops is flat, bottom of your induction cookware needs to be flat as well. You can use frying pans easily but not woks or vessels. Your kitchen, however, should have flat bottomed utensils that you can use without buying new ones.
Another great way to use your existing utensils with induction cooktop is an induction disc. This is a disc made from induction ready material that you need to place on top of the burner and then place the utensil on the disc. The disc transfers the heat to the utensil but some heat and power is lost in this process.
As you can see, it is not necessary to buy a whole new range of utensils to supplement your new induction cooktops. Just a few little adjustments and you can start cooking in your regular utensils right away.
